Today is Jen’s birthday! We woke up around 8am or so. It’s so nice not to have to wake up to an alarm clock.
Sometime late last night Amy had arranged a bunch of seashells on the table so that they read ‘Happy Bday Jen’. It was really cool looking and such a nice gesture from Amy.
Once again we had a special breakfast this morning. Today the featured thing was a type of scrambled eggs.
I took Larry and Amy over to the beach club shortly after breakfast. Jen and I remained around the villa for about an hour to let the breakfast digest before heading over there too.
Once we got to the beach club place we went straight to the fitness room. Just like before I had a great workout again. While Jen was on the elliptical machine, I used the treadmill. After the cardio work we both did some weight lifting.
After our great workout we changed and went to the pool. It felt nice to take a dip in the pool since we were both still ‘hot’ from our workout.
Unlike the other days here in Cabo, it was much more windy out and as a result it felt a little ‘cold’ to be outside of the water. This is such a sensation that I did not expect since everyone was telling me how unbearably hot it is in Cabo this time of year. It’s actually been quite pleasant the whole time. Compared to the current conditions in Atlanta, humid, rainy, muggy, overcast, and hot - this is much better.
I must be pretty boring because when we had lunch again at the beach club restaurant, I ordered the fish tacos again. I also had a wonderful mojito. I love those mojitos and will greatly miss them once we leave.
Larry was out along the beach photographing waves and rocks and various things. I sat back in the cushioned wooden beach chair and listened to my iPod while reading a book - these are good times. Jen lent me this book to read; it’s called ‘The Amber Room‘ and is pretty good.
Larry came back to where Amy, Jen, and I were sitting by the pool and shortly after that we all headed back to the villa. It wasn’t as windy there since it isn’t sitting on cliffs looking out at the ocean like the beach club is.
The sun tea yesterday was so good that I wanted to make more. I put some tea bags in a pitcher of water and set it out in the sun. What a fun way to make iced tea!
After doing this I make reservations for dinner tonight at 7pm. This was at the resort restaurant we had dinner at the first night. When I made the reservation I also informed them that it was Jen’s birthday so that they would do something special for it.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at the house. I was quite content. It was really fun being able to sit outside with my tall glass of iced tea, working on my laptop with WiFi broadband internet access and looking out at the ocean.
I also called into work using the VoIP phone. To my knowledge I haven’t talked to someone via VoIP before so this was a fun opportunity. I called up Sameer to see how things were going. It wasn’t surprising to see that not much has changed with the project. The voice quality of the connection was great and I didn’t perceive any delays like I expected.
We showered and dressed for dinner and then took the golf cart to the restaurant. Our reservations were for 7pm. We ordered a bottle of wine which was native to Mexico that used Italian varietal grapes. We also brought along our own bottle of wine (a malbec) which they opened for us.
I ordered the Chili Rellenos and Tostitos for dinner. They were both very good. I think I liked the Tostitos the best. After we finished eating dinner they brought out a little birthday cake with ‘Happy Birthday Jennifer’ written in chocolate on the top. It looked great.

I gave Jen a birthday present which was a pair of pearl earrings. We all had pina coloadas for desert. It had too much of a banana taste for me so I didn’t like it too much.
We got back to the house pretty late. I gave Jen a birthday card and another gift which was a pair of diamond earrings. I got the sense that I didn’t do a great job in picking out the jewelry and we might have to exchange the items.
