Today is one of five days a year where I get a mandatory holiday from work. I spent nearly all day ‘working’ on finances though. It was actually pretty fun (for the most part). I did a lot of work in MS Money to integrate and add Jen’s financial details into mine.
I got to add things like her age, expected retirement date, life expectancy, salary, 401(k) details, etc. I added all of her bank accounts, loan information, asset information, credit cards, etc. I had some trouble with her house mortgage and we didn’t have all of the necessary paperwork. It’s really tough doing mortgages in MS Money.
Jen and I went out to Swapna Indian restaurant for lunch. We had the buffet. I really enjoyed the vegetable and doll as well as some strangely-named dish called ‘RU-65′.
Around 6pm we changed and got ready to go to Katie’s party. We arrived at Katie’s house (Jen’s old house) around 7pm. Jen’s parents were there. I chatted with her Dad about camera stuff and eventually they left. More people showed up.
I had one drink and then stuck with ginger ale the rest of the night. I get so sleepy when I drink that I didn’t want to be boring and sleepy. It only helped a little bit.
The party was a success. Jen and I brought over our favorite ‘cheese box’ concoction and Katie had a lot of other food. A couple of people were either tired or had too much to drink early on and sat around in a dazed half-asleep state.
We all celebrated coming new year together and I was happy to be doing it with m new wife.
As I reflect back on 2004, it was an incredible year. So much happened during 2004 and it would be very difficult to sum up. It also sets the bar very high for 2005. I want next year to be just as amazing as this one was but I don’t know how that is possible. Jen and I have a lot of travel plans this next year and I hope it all works out.
Towards the end of the evening I chatted with a guy named Casey and Brad. It turns out that they both play World of Warcraft. There weren’t a lot of people at the party so it was pretty incredible that two others play too.
Jen and I headed out around 2am. We were both pretty tired and made it home with no problems. It felt great to go to bed and snuggle together.
