Jen’s party

Today was Friday and I was happy to have the week almost over. We made plans to have a special lunch at Smokey Bones. Lunch was wonderful as I had the full rack of baby-back ribs.

I put in a lot of time this past week so I planned on leaving work early today. Unfortunately it didn’t work out that way and I ended up working until 6:30pm. I planned on getting to Jen’s house early to help out with the party preparations but instead I didn’t get there until about 7:30pm.

Tom was already there when I arrived. I helped blow up balloons and get some things ready for the party. Katie arrived after a bit and brought some of the decorations.

Eventually people started to trickle in. Most of the early-arrivers were friends of Katie’s and people that Jen and I didn’t know. Finally more people arrived including Jen’s parents.

I spent some time outside with Jen’s brother, Scott; her Dad, and others. While I was outside, Jen stuck her head out of the door to let me know that my Mom and Jim arrived.

I went inside to greet them and introduce them to Jen’s parents as well as her brother and sister. They didn’t stay too long but I was very happy they came.

The party continued on into the night and many people left. We didn’t think Ellen and her husband Ethan would show up but eventually they did. Ethan was a pretty cool guy. He works in IT for IBM and has the same kind of phone I do. The first thing he did was show me that his memory-card was larger than mine (I have the factory 16MB card while he has the 256MB card).

I also talked with Damon quite a bit about Doom. Apparently Damon ‘works from home’ and was able to play Doom 3 all the way through this past week. Sometimes I wish my job was that laid back.

Around 1 or 2am the party was over and everyone went home. Jen and I were pretty tired and went to bed.
