I woke up at 7am and immediately began doing work stuff. I’m supposed to have the day off today but we have a production load that I need to assist with. I sent off the request to sustaining engineering for a deployment and got everything ready to activate the code in production.
Finally they got they got the code deployed and I worked frantically and efficiently to get everything activated in time. I used my cordless phone to join the bridge call but discovered that as soon as I turned on the phone, I dropped my WiFi connection. I know that 802.11b/g use the same 2.4GHz frequency as my cordless phone, but I thought I was on a non-interfering channel. I even tried to change the channel of my cordless phone several times to no avail. This really frustrated me and I had to switch to the cell phone.
Once those problems were resolved I finished the work. Jen left for her place around this time. The plan was to meet her at KSU after the graduation ceremony.
Jegan came back to work today after being away for a month in India. I passed some things off to him and left the bridge call. Everything appeared to be pretty smooth at this time.
I got ready for the graduation ceremony and called up Jen’s parents to see about meeting to sit together during the ceremony.
I drove up to KSU and found Jen’s parents at the very back of the hall close to the door. The location didn’t provide much of a view.
The ceremony was long but at least I got to see Jen walk across the stage. Once the ceremony concluded Jen’s parents and I were the first ones out given that we sat so close to the exit. We met up with Jen outside eventually and Jen introduced me to her friend Ellen. I took some pictures of Jen, Ellen, and Kristen. I also met Ellen’s Mom who works for Delta Technology in the same building I do. She works down on the third floor in the CAPS group.
Shortly after that we left campus and headed over to a sports bar near Town Center mall with Jen’s parents. Jen and I had a drink but didn’t stay too long. We had dinner plans tonight in celebration of Jen’s graduation and birthday.
We moved Jen’s car to another parking lot and drove in my car down to Vinings. We were a bit early for our dinner appointment so we drove around the Vinings area to look at the huge houses. Eventually we made our way over to Canoe for dinner.
Our reservations at Canoe were for 7pm but we got there about thirty minutes early. We were seated right away near the windows which was nice. We each had an appetizer. We also ordered a bottle of wine. Previously I checked with Larry to recommend a good wine from their wine list online. Unfortunately their online wine list is a couple of years outdated so all of the wines Larry recommended were not available. Instead we took a guess and ordered the ‘Conn Creek‘ Cabernet Franc red wine from Napa Valley. It was pretty good.
Dinner was pretty nice and we had a great time eating and making merry. Jen had the Alaskan Halibut and I had the Lamb. We talked a lot about our relationship.
After dinner we drove over to my house so I could get some clothes and supplies for tomorrow and then we drove up to Jen’s house to spend the night.
