Continuing with the laid back pace of yesterday afternoon, Jen and I slept in this morning and it felt great. I think it’s good to take advantage of these moments at a time when there are no kids and other responsibilities.
We went up to Jen’s house shortly after waking up. Today we’re going to Allison’s wedding down south in Forsyth but Jen’s special wedding clothes are at her house, so we went up to Woodstock first.
It wasn’t long after we got to Jen’s house that we were on the road again. We took Jen’s car to get better gas mileage. I drove.
Eventually we made it down to Forsyth, Georgia for Allison’s wedding. It was at a Baptist church. We were seated on the bride’s side of the church. I immediately recognized some people from work. Brent and his wife also showed up.
The wedding ceremony was pretty nice. Allison, who usually had a loud and booming voice, could barely squeak out words as I imagine that she was overcome with emotion during the ceremony.
After the ceremony, we had the reception in the fellowship hall of the church. Jen and I mingled a bit and I introduced her to people from work. I haven’t been to many weddings but apparently this one was unusual for Jen. She marveled that there was no drinking or dancing during the reception. I guess it’s a Southern Baptist thing.
Probably no more than an hour after the wedding did Allison and her new husband leave. After that Jen and I left too.
On our trek back north to Atlanta we stopped for food at a place called Truetts. It’s a diner-style restaurant owned by Chick Fil-A. Jen drove back the rest of the way. On the way back I got a page from the TCC about a production problem. I called Andrew from ODE to discuss. When we got back to jen’s house I logged into work to take a look.
The problem was on the ‘slave1’ node on dpd20w. It looked as if the ipcs problem struck again as the domain was unresponsive on that domain (indeed, a pclean wiped out all of the services on slave1). DB2Connect was also down. I had the TCC page Betsy S. from data services to get DB2Connect back up and running. I then began the task of repairing the broken node. I worked with Andrew to get the clients reconnected. All of this took most of the afternoon & early evening.
Jen and I had some chocolate vodka with coke. It was very tasty and I look forward to having it with other things. We watched ‘The Bourne Identity’ and then went to bed.
