celebrations

I debated just working from home today due to me working so late last night on the production call. Instead, I decided to go into work and leave early around 2pm.

I was pretty tired this morning as I was drained from the antics of last night. Early on we resumed the conference call for the production problem. With no real progress on solving the issue, it was decided that we would back out the changes made to the ticket table even though the problem appears to have been on a different database. This process takes at least a couple of hours, so we went to lunch. Today is Jay’s last day so we went out to lunch with him and his wife to a farmer’s market place south of town. Jay and his wife live in Denver, and he commutes to work a week at a time. They are going down to Key West next week so she is visiting with him on these last days of his time in Atlanta. It was nice to meet Jay’s wife.

During lunch Carole paged me to let me know that they finally found the source of the production problems. There was a missing index or something and once they added it, everything was gravy. I’m not sure why this wasn’t discovered last night but at least the production problems were over by the time Friday afternoon rolled around. Usually it seems that they don’t _start_ until Friday afternoon.

Given the long hours I put in yesterday I left work early today around 2:30pm. I went straight to the American Signature Home furniture place and picked up my new bed frame. From there I drove home, carted the pieces upstairs, and put the bed together. It looked pretty good and I was happy with it:

Shortly after I finished the task of putting the bed together, Jen came over straight from work. We were happy to be at the end of the week. Jen was especially happy to be done with school. We both had a drink and talked about it. I was bummed that I wasn’t able to go out with her last night to celebrate so I suggested that we go out to dinner. I already had a place in mind: Houston’s.

The last time Jen and I went to Houston’s she got the veggie burger which looked great. I vowed to come back and order the veggie burger but with bacon. Tonight my wish came true.

Jen and took a leisurely time getting to Houston’s and that set the pace for the rest of the evening: relaxed and leisurely. Typically when we go out to dinner, we’ll order an entrée and leave. Tonight we took our time and ordered a bottle of red wine as well as an appetizer before the entrée.

We had such a magnificent and magical time at dinner. My veggie-burger-with-bacon was all I imagined it to be and I’ll be getting the same thing next time I find myself at Houston’s. I don’t remember what time we left Houston’s but we were in wonderful spirits. There was something very special about the dinner the two of us shared tonight and I hope we can reproduce that again in the future.

After dinner we decided to go rent a movie. We went to the nearby Blockbuster and looked through the selection of new movies. Jen wanted to get Terminator 3 but to my surprise I wasn’t all that excited about it. So instead we rented ‘Hellboy’.

We went back to my place and watched the movie. It wasn’t that good.
