Hawaii 4.9

I woke up around 7am this morning (1pm Eastern time). It felt so great to get a nice long sleep. I had a smoothie for breakfast and then went out back with Larry’s tripod, 100mm macro lens, and remote shutter release.

I was taking macro shots of the flowers in the back yard. I really enjoy using that lens as well as a big & stable tripod.

Back inside, I saw an email from Jen regarding the photography class I’ve been looking into. It starts on July 13th and goes two hours every Tuesday at 7pm until August 24th. When I get back I think I’m going to sign up.

I worked on my journal some for a while until we left for Ke’e beach. Once there we got a great parking spot. Unfortunately it wasn’t too sunny today.

Larry asked if I could take some photos of the kids as well as him & Amy. I used the 70-200mm lens which was quite fun to use. It was difficult to get photos of them all because shortly after I started, Amy walked off and went back to the towels. It was also hard to photograph Larry with the Kids because he never seemed to stay around them. I did my best and think there were some good shots.

A little while later I took my fisheye lens and walked out to the rocky point overlooking the Na Pali coastline. It didn’t look as great as it could have because of the overcast sky. I made a note to try to go back around sunset to get some nice sunset photos.

As I walked back to the beach I encountered Larry who had Tucker and Lily with him. I went along with them and we walked around the area for a while. We had some trouble motivating Lily to walk back on her own but she did a good job.

When we got back to the beach, Amy and Kenny were packing up. We left Ke’e beach and drove back into town (Hanalei). We had lunch at Zelo’s. Once again I was a bit disappointed with their food. I ordered a Caesar salad which supposedly came with croutons. They should revise the menu to say that it comes with a crouton (singular) because that’s just what I got: one crouton on the whole salad.

With lunch concluded we went back to the house. I called Jen and we talked for a bit. I certainly do miss her.

The kids watched a movie on TV while Larry and Amy went down to the beach to go out in the kayak. I took my laptop outside on the deck and worked on my journal while listening to music from my music collection. I had a great time. It was relaxing and enjoyable.

Back inside I attempted to upload some photos for my Austin journal entry. Previously I had trouble with this & the GPRS connection. I found that if I try enough it eventually works. It’s better than nothing.

I took a shower, changed, and went out with Larry and Amy for dinner due to this being my last night here.

Before dinner, we stopped at an art gallery place to look around. We had dinner at Hanalei Gourmet. We brought a bottle of wine which we finished off.

I had the special, which consisted of fish and shrimp in a special Diablo sauce. It was pretty good.

After dinner I worked on my photos from the day. I think I’ve taken 10,169 photos with my 10D so far - but it may be more. The counter rolls over after every 10,000 photos. I did some laundry and went to bed.
