It was a fairly quiet day today. I didn’t wake up until around 10am or so. I spent the morning uninstalling some of the games I installed yesterday. I also cleaned up all of the menu items in my ’start menu’.
Jenn called around noon to ask me if I wanted to come over to her parents house this evening. That seemed like an unusual request but I agreed. She suggested that I eat dinner before coming over. Shortly after that she called again and told me the reason is that it’s probably time for her parents to meet me. I was expected to be there around 8pm.
I spent some time today attempting to install Visual Studio.NET 2003. However I must have a bad copy because it failed while installing. I spent several hours looking for a fix.
I did some laundry and got a shower. I also did my weekly finances. This was my first time using the new Microsoft Money 2004. I honestly can’t tell any difference whatsoever between this version and the ‘2003′ version. I think they keep re-releasing the same product with a new name to generate a constant stream of income. I wish Quicken would give them more competition so they would innovate a little more.
Around 7:30pm I headed out to Jenn’s house. When I arrived her step-mother (Lori) and father (Jim) greeted me at the door. After brief introductions they led me into the kitchen where we made small talk while Lori finished up preparing dinner. Jim does work for GE in examining contracts. His office is literally like 150 yards away from where I live. They asked me about my job and things related to my work.
For dinner we had salmon steaks with cheese and artichokes. We also had corn on the cob as well as green beans. It was pretty good. After dinner we headed to the living room where Jim wanted to watch the Tour De France recap. While we were watching that, he took me into his study to show me his model collection. He has quite a few model airplanes and tanks and other military vehicles. Larry used to make models and so I knew a little about the subject. He has many models that haven’t even been started yet. Apparently the companies releasing the models only do so in a limited fashion so you must buy them while they are available.
While we watched Lance Armstrong win, Lori brought out some sweet rice & raisin desert. I stayed for a little while longer and left around 10:30pm.
