Sep 3rd 1995
Its been three months. I will start from the beginning. I went on the Colorado trip and recorded all of my days on that trip on paper that I will someday transcribe to this. It picks up on 6-11-95. After I got back from the trip I tried to get a job at West Telemarketing, but they didn’t have any positions open, so I didn’t know what I was going to do for a job. I then started working for Carol. I took over Brian’s old job of inspecting houses and running errands for the company (Brass Ring Properties). I did that, and worked with Craig only about two times trimming trees. I worked with Adam a lot painting houses, high-pressure washing driveways, and fixing fence boards. I also did a few things with my friends over the summer and played on my computer a lot. Larry came to visit me a couple of times, and him, John and I went to Con-Can to go tubing for one day. We also went to Bandera to go swimming in the Medina river for one weekend. I also went camping with James Bernsen, Brandy Novak (James’s girlfriend), Kathryn (James’s, and Brandy’s friend), and Craig. We went camping at Garner State Park. We stayed three nights. It was VERY much fun.
I moved up to Austin on Saturday, August 26th. Larry came to Austin the following day to help me get settled. We went to the mall and got different supplies. I finally got settled in. My roommate is Doug Jones. He is also a Computer Science Major, and I feel that we get along well. John lives in room 226, I live in room 223. Simkins is nice and small. We almost always eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Kinsolving, a girl’s dorm with a cafeteria. It is nice to eat there because there are a lot of girls and the food is better (In my opinion). I spent $110 on tests (SAT II Writing, SAT II Math, and Computer Science 304P CLEP test). I only got a 55 on the Computer Science test, so I had to drop Computer Science II (CS 315) and take CS 304P (Computer Science I). All my classes are O.K. I don’t know what S 304P is like yet, because I switched on Friday. I was VERY lucking to get it switched since all of the CS 304P classes are full. John talked to Bruce Porter (His boss (and Larry’s old boss)). Bruce talked to me and made some phone calls and got me into a small, fast paced CS 304P class. Last nice (9-2-95) we went to a sports-bar-type place called “Players” and watched the UT-Hawaii game on TV. We left at the end of the 3rd quarter because it was very late (1:45am), And because UT was winning by a very LARGE margin.

Sep 9th 1995
I went out last night with John and Doug (My room-mate) to the ‘Party-Zilla’, a free open-house type thing put on by the Texas union. The open-house had a bunch of free music. I didn’t care too much for it. I slept in until 11am. I am going to make it a point to get up early every-day, and go running on the track at the UT stadium. I am also going to go to breakfast every morning at around 8:30. I want to get into a habit of getting up early. I came over to the SMurF (Student Microprocessing Facility) to work on some things. I made a catalog of possible CD’s to get from the library and printed that out. I also worked on this, and I am working on it right now. I am also going to do the CS 304 (Computer Science) Homework on here while I am at a MAC. It is 4:06:48 right now. I want to get home before 5pm so I can go to dinner early.
Sep 19th 1995
I got up at about 9:50am this morning. I slept in because I was at the SMURF lab until 2am. I didn’t even get ANY of my work done there. I was playing on Arctic, and then I logged onto GlobalMUSH (I’m not even going to explain what those are, it will take up way too much time). I ran into this very interesting ‘newbie’ on Globalmush named SuzyQ. She asked me if I wanted to go ‘exploring’ with her since we were both new to the MUSH. I accepted and we went to the ski-slopes. We went up the lift and down the most difficult trail. We came upon a cave and went inside. In the cave was a raging campfire. We sat down and talked. SuzyQ got out a ‘wine-cooler’ and we drank some. She snuggled up close me and we chatted some more. I put my arm around her and we talked a little more. I thought that perhaps she was coming onto me. I made a comment about how late it was and she then said “Perhaps I have drank too much with a stranger” and then she said she needed to go.. I was a little surprised at the change of direction on her part.
Anyway, I got up, tried to check my characters status on Armageddon, but he was rejected because I made the inference that the wind was blowing his hair in one of the descriptions. So, I had to re-create my character. I did that, then went to Calculus. Calculus was just a normal lecture. Right after Calculus, I went to the cafeteria (at Kinsolving) to eat lunch with Doug. Chris also showed up so the three of us ate. We ate lunch with a guy named Efrin(sp?). Efrin is a senior and told me he remembered Larry. After lunch I went to astronomy. I turned in my homework and listened to the lecture. I think he is teaching us that we can measure the distance to stars just from the wavelength of the light and some time. That is amazing. After Astronomy, I went to Logic. I turned in my homework there as well. The lecture was pretty good, and I think I have a better understanding of the Logical concepts we need to know. After logic I came back to my room and Doug, Chris and I went off to go to dinner. At dinner we saw John. We ate dinner. I had Pizza. During dinner John told me that I was going to go play basket-ball with them. I didn’t want to so I told him that I had homework to do.. He still pressed me and I finally decided to go with them, but only for a little bit. I really have NO skill at basketball. But I suppose the only way I’m going to get better is if I play. After basketball, I came back home and called Larry. Larry told me that he is going to Chicago this weekend to see the UT-Notre Dame game. He is very lucky since as usual, it is a broker paying for it. I also called Carol Fochler. She just wanted to make sure that I was going to close my CRL account. I told her that I already did. She said that Craig is coming into San Antonio in two weeks. I might try to do something with him then. Right after that, I went to SMURF to do my Computer Science. At this very moment it is 11:20:54pm. I need to get back to work, as I still need to do my Calculus that’s due TOMORROW as well.
Sep 23rd 1995
I didn’t write in this journal last night because I wasn’t at a terminal. I went out last night with Sommer and Mike Flynn. Both of them are friends from High School. Sommer and Mike picked me up at 11:00pm. We went way out to Barton Creek. We picked up Sommer’s friend, Lauren. After picking her up, we went to a place called “Mozart’s”. Mozart’s is a coffee shop right on Town lake. I had a chocolate mocha. It was very good. We sat down on the dock on the lake. We drank our coffee and talked. We left there at about 1:30am. We dropped Lauren off at her home. Sommer and Mike and I then decided to go down to 6th street to just walk up and down it. We went there and walked up and down the whole length of the main part of sixth street. I saw a lot of interesting people. There were people who were dancing in the street, and stumbling around. They were obviously drunk. Sommer got a cigarette from Mike. She hadn’t smoked in over three months and after she smoked that one, she was feeling very sick. We went back to her room at the Barrone at Contessa. She laid down for about 30 minutes. After that we went to a coffee shop, called Insomniac. I had a lemonade. We talked a little more, and then all of us went home. I woke up around 11:30am. I didn’t do much the whole day. Larry called me at around 4:00pm from Chicago. He was at the UT-Notre Dame football game. UT lost pretty bad. I went out to do study to the Fine Arts library first, but it was closed. So I tried to go to the Law Library, but it was closed too. So, I tried to go to the ever-so-crowded Undergraduate library. I couldn’t study there because it was closing. I came back and played on my computer. I think I might play Sojourn again.
Sep 24th 1995
I didn’t wake up until 11:30 this morning. I got up, took a shower and went to lunch with Doug and Chris. After lunch I worked on my computer doing some stuff with Sojourn. I was making some nice aliases to do different things in the game. I spent a lot of time on that, because I think I’m going to play there a lot more from now on. I went to Mr. Gatties with Doug and Chris for dinner. After dinner we came back, and I worked a little more with tintin. Then we went to the football game at 8:30. We played against the “49 Public Olajuwans” and lost by a touch-down. I came back here and Cleaned up the room some. It was a pretty un-eventful day.
